Every year, World Wetlands Day raises global awareness about the importance of wetlands – for our people and our planet. This day is extra special this year, as it marks 50 years since the signing of the Ramsar Convention on Wetlands of International Importance – protecting significant wetlands that are vital bird breeding and feeding sites.

To celebrate, Birdlife Australia is hosting a national online day of action!

On Feb 2, join Birdlife Australia in posting photos from your favourite wetland or of your favourite wetland bird to social media, tagging @birdlifeoz and the Environment Minister Sussan Ley.

Birdlife Australia also ask that you use the hashtags #WorldWetlandsDay and #RespectRamsar to spread the word!
