The Friends of Coolbinia Bushland care for 1.4 hectares of Jarrah/Banksia remnant vegetation located on Bradford Street, Coolbinia, WA, 6050. This site is owned by the State Education Department and attached to the Coolbinia Primary School. Our Friends group focus is to help control weeds, mainly hand weeding perennial Veldt grass (Ehrharta clycina). Revegetation of local species is also a big focus which requires us to hand-water plantings during the dry months. We promote the bushland to the local community to enhance engagement and connection with the site. Every Spring we host a community Wildflower event with guided walks and afternoon tea. We like to support each other and have some social catch-ups too (totally optional!). We have a Cockatoo Watering Station and multiple benches across the bushland for resting and taking photographs. With more than 100 plant species, Coolbinia Bushland is a wonderful asset for the whole community to enjoy.
